Honorary Mention - Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival

Today the results of the Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival haiku contest were announced and while I didn't win, I did get close to it with an Honorary Mention which I'm still pretty excited about!

Read my submitted haiku here;

walking on stars -
a constellation of cherry blossoms
blanket the sidewalk

Thanks, contest judge Tim Mueller for the honorable mention!

About the haiku:
This haiku was inspired by the streets of Victoria, BC during cherry blossom season! We don't see the blooming trees much as we live further up the island but we happened to be around one Spring while they were in bloom and some of the old town streets are just full of blossoms! It's so beautiful to walk below as they spin past you and fill the pavements and gutters, reminding me of our time in Japan when we saw hillsides full of them too!
