HSA Anthology Publication

The Haiku Society of America's 2024 Anthology just arrived in the mail and I had completely forgotten about my included haiku!

burst of yellow gold
dawn invades the world
from left field

I remember coming up with this haiku while driving along a very straight bit of highway last Fall. In the middle of a long row of thick evergreens, there was suddenly the shockingly bright yellow colour of a single maple tree. It was so unexpected and surprising, and it was the first sign that Fall was just around the corner. Somehow the scene didn't translate fully when I tried to write a haiku about it and so the maple became a dawn instead, but the imagery has stuck with me!
